37:1 And Jacob3290 dwelt3427 in the land0776 wherein his father0001 was a stranger4033, in the land0776 of Canaan3667.
37:2 These {are} the generations8435 of Jacob3290. Joseph3130, {being} seventeen6240-7651 years8141 old1121, was feeding7462 the flock6629 with his brethren0251; and the lad5288 {was} with the sons1121 of Bilhah1090, and with the sons1121 of Zilpah2153, his father's0001 wives0802: and Joseph3130 brought0935 unto his father0001 their evil7451 report1681.
37:3 Now Israel3478 loved0157 Joseph3130 more than all his children1121, because he {was} the son1121 of his old age2208: and he made6213 him a coat3801 of {many} colours6446.
37:4 And when his brethren0251 saw7200 that their father0001 loved0157 him more than all his brethren0251, they hated8130 him, and could3201 not speak1696 peaceably7965 unto him.
37:5 And Joseph3130 dreamed2492 a dream2472, and he told5046 {it} his brethren0251: and they hated8130 him yet the more3254.
37:6 And he said0559 unto them, Hear8085, I pray you, this dream2472 which I have dreamed2492:
37:7 For, behold, we {were} binding0481-8432 sheaves0485 in the field7704, and, lo, my sheaf0485 arose6965, and also stood upright5324; and, behold, your sheaves0485 stood round about5437, and made obeisance7812 to my sheaf0485.
37:8 And his brethren0251 said0559 to him, Shalt thou indeed4427 reign4427 over us? or shalt thou indeed4910 have dominion4910 over us? And they hated8130 him yet the more3254 for his dreams2472, and for his words1697.
37:9 And he dreamed2492 yet another0312 dream2472, and told5608 it his brethren0251, and said0559, Behold, I have dreamed2492 a dream2472 more; and, behold, the sun8121 and the moon3394 and the eleven6240-0259 stars3556 made obeisance7812 to me.
37:10 And he told5608 {it} to his father0001, and to his brethren0251: and his father0001 rebuked1605 him, and said0559 unto him, What {is} this dream2472 that thou hast dreamed2492? Shall I and thy mother0517 and thy brethren0251 indeed0935 come0935 to bow down7812 ourselves to thee to the earth0776?
37:11 And his brethren0251 envied7065 him; but his father0001 observed8104 the saying1697.
37:12 And his brethren0251 went3212 to feed7462 their father's0001 flock6629 in Shechem7927.
37:13 And Israel3478 said0559 unto Joseph3130, Do not thy brethren0251 feed7462 {the flock} in Shechem7927? come3212, and I will send thee7971 unto them. And he said0559 to him, Here {am I}.
37:14 And he said0559 to him, Go3212, I pray thee, see7200 whether it be well7965 with thy brethren0251, and well7965 with the flocks6629; and bring7725 me word1697 again7725. So he sent7971 him out of the vale6010 of Hebron2275, and he came0935 to Shechem7927.
37:15 And a certain man0376 found him4672, and, behold, {he was} wandering8582 in the field7704: and the man0376 asked him7592, saying0559, What seekest1245 thou?
37:16 And he said0559, I seek1245 my brethren0251: tell5046 me, I pray thee, where0375 they feed7462 {their flocks}.
37:17 And the man0376 said0559, They are departed5265 hence2088; for I heard8085 them say0559, Let us go3212 to Dothan1886. And Joseph3130 went3212 after0310 his brethren0251, and found4672 them in Dothan1886.
37:18 And when they saw7200 him afar off7350, even before he came near7126 unto them, they conspired5230 against him to slay4191 him.
37:19 And they said0559 one0376 to another0251, Behold, this1976 dreamer1167-2472 cometh0935.
37:20 Come3212 now therefore, and let us slay2026 him, and cast7993 him into some0259 pit0953, and we will say0559, Some evil7451 beast2416 hath devoured0398 him: and we shall see7200 what will become of his dreams2472.
37:21 And Reuben7205 heard8085 {it}, and he delivered5337 him out of their hands3027; and said0559, Let us not kill5221-5315 him.
37:22 And Reuben7205 said0559 unto them, Shed8210 no blood1818, {but} cast7993 him into this pit0953 that {is} in the wilderness4057, and lay7971 no hand3027 upon him; that he might rid5337 him out of their hands3027, to deliver7725 him to his father0001 again7725.
37:23 And it came to pass, when Joseph3130 was come0935 unto his brethren0251, that they stript6584-0853 Joseph3130 out of0854 his coat3801, {his} coat3801 of {many} colours6446 that {was} on him;
37:24 And they took3947 him, and cast7993 him into a pit0953: and the pit0953 {was} empty7386, {there was} no water4325 in it.
37:25 And they sat down3427 to eat0398 bread3899: and they lifted up5375 their eyes5869 and looked7200, and, behold, a company0736 of Ishmeelites3459 came0935 from Gilead1568 with their camels1581 bearing5375 spicery5219 and balm6875 and myrrh3910, going1980 to carry {it} down3381 to Egypt4714.
37:26 And Judah3063 said0559 unto his brethren0251, What profit1215 {is it} if we slay2026 our brother0251, and conceal3680 his blood1818?
37:27 Come3212, and let us sell4376 him to the Ishmeelites3459, and let not our hand3027 be upon him; for he {is} our brother0251 {and} our flesh1320. And his brethren0251 were content8085.
37:28 Then there passed5674 by Midianites4084 merchantmen0582-5503; and they drew4900 and lifted up5927 Joseph3130 out of the pit0953, and sold4376 Joseph3130 to the Ishmeelites3459 for twenty6242 {pieces} of silver3701: and they brought0935 Joseph3130 into Egypt4714.
37:29 And Reuben7205 returned7725 unto the pit0953; and, behold, Joseph3130 {was} not in the pit0953; and he rent7167 his clothes0899.
37:30 And he returned7725 unto his brethren0251, and said0559, The child3206 {is} not; and I, whither0575 shall I go0935?
37:31 And they took3947 Joseph's3130 coat3801, and killed7819 a kid8163 of the goats5795, and dipped2881 the coat3801 in the blood1818;
37:32 And they sent7971 the coat3801 of {many} colours6446, and they brought0935 {it} to their father0001; and said0559, This have we found4672: know5234 now whether it {be} thy son's1121 coat3801 or no.
37:33 And he knew it5234, and said0559, {It is} my son's1121 coat3801; an evil7451 beast2416 hath devoured0398 him; Joseph3130 is without doubt2963 rent in pieces2963.
37:34 And Jacob3290 rent7167 his clothes8071, and put7760 sackcloth8242 upon his loins4975, and mourned0056 for his son1121 many7227 days3117.
37:35 And all his sons1121 and all his daughters1323 rose up6965 to comfort5162 him; but he refused3985 to be comforted5162; and he said0559, For I will go down3381 into the grave7585 unto my son1121 mourning0057. Thus his father0001 wept1058 for him.
37:36 And the Midianites4092 sold4376 him into Egypt4714 unto Potiphar6318, an officer5631 of Pharaoh's6547, {and} captain8269 of the guard2876.
