44:1 And he commanded6680 the steward of his house1004, saying0559, Fill4390 the men's0582 sacks0572 {with} food0400, as much as0834 they can3201 carry5375, and put7760 every man's0376 money3701 in his sack's0572 mouth6310.
44:2 And put7760 my cup1375, the silver3701 cup1375, in the sack's0572 mouth6310 of the youngest6996, and his corn7668 money3701. And he did6213 according to the word1697 that Joseph3130 had spoken1696.
44:3 As soon as the morning1242 was light0215, the men0582 were sent away7971, they and their asses2543.
44:4 {And} when they were gone out3318 of the city5892, {and} not {yet} far off7368, Joseph3130 said0559 unto his steward1004, Up6965, follow7291 after0310 the men0582; and when thou dost overtake5381 them, say0559 unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded7999 evil7451 for good2896?
44:5 {Is} not this {it} in which my lord0113 drinketh8354, and whereby indeed5172 he divineth5172? ye have done evil7489 in so doing6213.
44:6 And he overtook5381 them, and he spake1696 unto them these same0428 words1697.
44:7 And they said0559 unto him, Wherefore saith1696 my lord0113 these words1697? God forbid2486 that thy servants5650 should do6213 according to this thing1697:
44:8 Behold, the money3701, which we found4672 in our sacks'0572 mouths6310, we brought again7725 unto thee out of the land0776 of Canaan3667: how then should we steal1589 out of thy lord's0113 house1004 silver3701 or gold2091?
44:9 With whomsoever of thy servants5650 it be found4672, both let him die4191, and we also will be my lord's0113 bondmen5650.
44:10 And he said0559, Now also {let} it {be} according unto your words1697-3651: he with whom it is found4672 shall be my servant5650; and ye shall be blameless5355.
44:11 Then they speedily4116 took down3381 every man0376 his sack0572 to the ground0776, and opened6605 every man0376 his sack0572.
44:12 And he searched2664, {and} began2490 at the eldest1419, and left3615 at the youngest6996: and the cup1375 was found4672 in Benjamin's1144 sack0572.
44:13 Then they rent7167 their clothes8071, and laded6006 every man0376 his ass2543, and returned7725 to the city5892.
44:14 And Judah3063 and his brethren0251 came0935 to Joseph's3130 house1004; for he {was} yet there: and they fell5307 before him6440 on the ground0776.
44:15 And Joseph3130 said0559 unto them, What deed4639 {is} this that ye have done6213? wot ye3045 not that such a man0376 as I can certainly5172 divine5172?
44:16 And Judah3063 said0559, What shall we say0559 unto my lord0113? what shall we speak1696? or how shall we clear ourselves6663? God0430 hath found out4672 the iniquity5771 of thy servants5650: behold, we {are} my lord's0113 servants5650, both we, and {he} also1571 with whom0834-3027 the cup1375 is found4672.
44:17 And he said0559, God forbid2486 that I should do6213 so2063: {but} the man0376 in whose hand3027 the cup1375 is found4672, he shall be my servant5650; and as for you, get you up5927 in peace7965 unto your father0001.
44:18 Then Judah3063 came near5066 unto him, and said0559, Oh0994 my lord0113, let thy servant5650, I pray thee, speak1696 a word1697 in my lord's0113 ears0241, and let not thine anger0639 burn2734 against thy servant5650: for thou {art} even as Pharaoh6547.
44:19 My lord0113 asked7592 his servants5650, saying0559, Have3426 ye a father0001, or a brother0251?
44:20 And we said0559 unto my lord0113, We have3426 a father0001, an old man2205, and a child3206 of his old age2208, a little one6996; and his brother0251 is dead4191, and he alone is left3498 of his mother0517, and his father0001 loveth0157 him.
44:21 And thou saidst0559 unto thy servants5650, Bring him down3381 unto me, that I may set7760 mine eyes5869 upon him.
44:22 And we said0559 unto my lord0113, The lad5288 cannot3201 leave5800 his father0001: for {if} he should leave5800 his father0001, {his father} would die4191.
44:23 And thou saidst0559 unto thy servants5650, Except3808 your youngest6996 brother0251 come down3381 with you, ye shall see7200-3254 my face6440 no more7200-3254.
44:24 And it came to pass when we came up5927 unto thy servant5650 my father0001, we told5046 him the words1697 of my lord0113.
44:25 And our father0001 said0559, Go again7725, {and} buy7666 us a little4592 food0400.
44:26 And we said0559, We cannot3201 go down3381: if our youngest6996 brother0251 be3426 with us, then will we go down3381: for we may3201 not see7200 the man's0376 face6440, except0369 our youngest6996 brother0251 {be} with us.
44:27 And thy servant5650 my father0001 said0559 unto us, Ye know3045 that my wife0802 bare3205 me two8147 {sons}:
44:28 And the one0259 went out3318 from me, and I said0559, Surely2963 he is torn in pieces2963; and I saw him7200 not since2008:
44:29 And if ye take3947 this also from5973 me6440, and mischief0611 befall him7136, ye shall bring down3381 my gray hairs7872 with sorrow7451 to the grave7585.
44:30 Now therefore when I come0935 to thy servant5650 my father0001, and the lad5288 {be} not with us; seeing that his life5315 is bound up7194 in the lad's life5315;
44:31 It shall come to pass, when he seeth7200 that the lad5288 {is} not {with us}, that he will die4191: and thy servants5650 shall bring down3381 the gray hairs7872 of thy servant5650 our father0001 with sorrow3015 to the grave7585.
44:32 For thy servant5650 became surety6148 for the lad5288 unto5973 my father0001, saying0559, If I bring0935 him not unto thee, then I shall bear the blame2398 to my father0001 for ever3117.
44:33 Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant5650 abide3427 instead of the lad5288 a bondman5650 to my lord0113; and let the lad5288 go up5927 with his brethren0251.
44:34 For how0349 shall I go up5927 to my father0001, and the lad5288 {be} not with me? lest peradventure I see7200 the evil7451 that shall come on4672 my father0001.
