40:1 And it came to pass after0310 these things1697, {that} the butler8248 of the king4428 of Egypt4714 and {his} baker0644 had offended2398 their lord0113 the king4428 of Egypt4714.
40:2 And Pharaoh6547 was wroth7107 against5921 two8147 {of} his officers5631, against the chief8269 of the butlers8248, and against the chief8269 of the bakers0644.
40:3 And he put5414 them in ward4929 in the house1004 of the captain8269 of the guard2876, into the prison1004-5470, the place4725 where Joseph3130 {was} bound0631.
40:4 And the captain8269 of the guard2876 charged6485 Joseph3130 with them, and he served8334 them: and they continued a season3117 in ward4929.
40:5 And they dreamed2492 a dream2472 both of them8147, each man0376 his dream2472 in one0259 night3915, each man0376 according to the interpretation6623 of his dream2472, the butler8248 and the baker0644 of the king4428 of Egypt4714, which {were} bound0631 in the prison1004-5470.
40:6 And Joseph3130 came in0935 unto them in the morning1242, and looked7200 upon them, and, behold, they {were} sad2196.
40:7 And he asked7592 Pharaoh's6547 officers5631 that {were} with him in the ward4929 of his lord's0113 house1004, saying0559, Wherefore look6440 ye {so} sadly7451 to day3117?
40:8 And they said0559 unto him, We have dreamed2492 a dream2472, and {there is} no interpreter6622 of it. And Joseph3130 said0559 unto them, {Do} not interpretations6623 {belong} to God0430? tell me5608 {them}, I pray you.
40:9 And the chief8269 butler8248 told5608 his dream2472 to Joseph3130, and said0559 to him, In my dream2472, behold, a vine1612 {was} before me6440;
40:10 And in the vine1612 {were} three7969 branches8299: and it {was} as though it budded6524, {and} her blossoms5322 shot forth5927; and the clusters0811 thereof brought forth ripe1310 grapes6025:
40:11 And Pharaoh's6547 cup3563 {was} in my hand3027: and I took3947 the grapes6025, and pressed7818 them into Pharaoh's6547 cup3563, and I gave5414 the cup3563 into Pharaoh's6547 hand3709.
40:12 And Joseph3130 said0559 unto him, This {is} the interpretation6623 of it: The three7969 branches8299 {are} three7969 days3117:
40:13 Yet5750 within three7969 days3117 shall Pharaoh6547 lift up5375 thine head7218, and restore7725 thee unto thy place3653: and thou shalt deliver5414 Pharaoh's6547 cup3563 into his hand3027, after the former7223 manner4941 when thou wast his butler8248.
40:14 But think2142 on me when it shall be well3190 with thee, and shew6213 kindness2617, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention2142 of me unto Pharaoh6547, and bring me3318 out of this house1004:
40:15 For indeed I was stolen away1589 out of the land0776 of the Hebrews5680: and here also have I done6213 nothing3972 that they should put7760 me into the dungeon0953.
40:16 When the chief8269 baker0644 saw7200 that the interpretation6622 was good2896, he said0559 unto Joseph3130, I also0637 {was} in my dream2472, and, behold, {I had} three7969 white2751 baskets5536 on my head7218:
40:17 And in the uppermost5945 basket5536 {there was} of all manner3978 of bakemeats4639-0644 for Pharaoh6547; and the birds5775 did eat0398 them out of the basket5536 upon5921 my head7218.
40:18 And Joseph3130 answered6030 and said0559, This {is} the interpretation6623 thereof: The three7969 baskets5536 {are} three7969 days3117:
40:19 Yet within three7969 days3117 shall Pharaoh6547 lift up5375 thy head7218 from off thee, and shall hang8518 thee on a tree6086; and the birds5775 shall eat0398 thy flesh1320 from off thee.
40:20 And it came to pass the third7992 day3117, {which was} Pharaoh's6547 birthday3117-3205, that he made6213 a feast4960 unto all his servants5650: and he lifted up5375 the head7218 of the chief8269 butler8248 and of the chief8269 baker0644 among8432 his servants5650.
40:21 And he restored7725 the chief8269 butler8248 unto his butlership4945 again7725; and he gave5414 the cup3563 into Pharaoh's6547 hand3709:
40:22 But he hanged8518 the chief8269 baker0644: as Joseph3130 had interpreted6622 to them.
40:23 Yet did not the chief8269 butler8248 remember2142 Joseph3130, but forgat7911 him.
