28:1 And Isaac3327 called7121 Jacob3290, and blessed1288 him, and charged6680 him, and said0559 unto him, Thou shalt not take3947 a wife0802 of the daughters1323 of Canaan3667.
28:2 Arise6965, go3212 to Padanaram6307, to the house1004 of Bethuel1328 thy mother's0517 father0001; and take3947 thee a wife0802 from thence of the daughters1323 of Laban3837 thy mother's0517 brother0251.
28:3 And God0410 Almighty7706 bless1288 thee, and make thee fruitful6509, and multiply7235 thee, that thou mayest be a multitude6951 of people5971;
28:4 And give5414 thee the blessing1293 of Abraham0085, to thee, and to thy seed2233 with thee; that thou mayest inherit3423 the land0776 wherein thou art a stranger4033, which God0430 gave5414 unto Abraham0085.
28:5 And Isaac3327 sent away7971 Jacob3290: and he went3212 to Padanaram6307 unto Laban3837, son1121 of Bethuel1328 the Syrian0761, the brother0251 of Rebekah7259, Jacob's3290 and Esau's6215 mother0517.
28:6 When Esau6215 saw7200 that Isaac3327 had blessed1288 Jacob3290, and sent him away7971 to Padanaram6307, to take3947 him a wife0802 from thence; and that as he blessed1288 him he gave him a charge6680, saying0559, Thou shalt not take3947 a wife0802 of the daughters1323 of Canaan3667;
28:7 And that Jacob3290 obeyed8085 his father0001 and his mother0517, and was gone3212 to Padanaram6307;
28:8 And Esau6215 seeing7200 that the daughters1323 of Canaan3667 pleased5869 not7451 Isaac3327 his father0001;
28:9 Then went3212 Esau6215 unto Ishmael3458, and took3947 unto the wives0802 which he had Mahalath4258 the daughter1323 of Ishmael3458 Abraham's0085 son1121, the sister0269 of Nebajoth5032, to be his wife0802.
28:10 And Jacob3290 went out3318 from Beersheba0884, and went3212 toward Haran2771.
28:11 And he lighted6293 upon a certain place4725, and tarried there all night3885, because the sun8121 was set0935; and he took3947 of the stones0068 of that place4725, and put7760 {them for} his pillows4763, and lay down7901 in that place4725 to sleep7901.
28:12 And he dreamed2492, and behold a ladder5551 set up5324 on the earth0776, and the top of it7218 reached5060 to heaven8064: and behold the angels4397 of God0430 ascending5927 and descending3381 on it.
28:13 And, behold, the LORD3068 stood5324 above it, and said0559, I {am} the LORD3068 God0430 of Abraham0085 thy father0001, and the God0430 of Isaac3327: the land0776 whereon thou liest7901, to thee will I give it5414, and to thy seed2233;
28:14 And thy seed2233 shall be as the dust6083 of the earth0776, and thou shalt spread abroad6555 to the west3220, and to the east6924, and to the north6828, and to the south5045: and in thee and in thy seed2233 shall all the families4940 of the earth0127 be blessed1288.
28:15 And, behold, I {am} with thee, and will keep8104 thee in all {places} whither0834 thou goest3212, and will bring thee again7725 into this land0127; for I will not leave5800 thee, until0834 I have done6213 {that} which I have spoken1696 to thee of.
28:16 And Jacob3290 awaked3364 out of his sleep8142, and he said0559, Surely0403 the LORD3068 is3426 in this place4725; and I knew3045 {it} not.
28:17 And he was afraid3372, and said0559, How dreadful3372 {is} this place4725! this {is} none other but the house1004 of God0430, and this {is} the gate8179 of heaven8064.
28:18 And Jacob3290 rose up early7925 in the morning1242, and took3947 the stone0068 that he had put7760 {for} his pillows4763, and set it up7760 {for} a pillar4676, and poured3332 oil8081 upon the top of it7218.
28:19 And he called7121 the name8034 of that place4725 Bethel1008: but0199 the name8034 of that city5892 {was called} Luz3870 at the first7223.
28:20 And Jacob3290 vowed5087 a vow5088, saying0559, If God0430 will be with me, and will keep me8104 in this way1870 that I go1980, and will give5414 me bread3899 to eat0398, and raiment0899 to put on3847,
28:21 So that I come again7725 to my father's0001 house1004 in peace7965; then shall the LORD3068 be my God0430:
28:22 And this stone0068, which I have set7760 {for} a pillar4676, shall be God's0430 house1004: and of all that thou shalt give5414 me I will surely6237 give the tenth6237 unto thee.
