14:1 And2532 it came to pass1096, as1722 he0846 went2064 into1519 the house3624 of one5100 of the chief0758 Pharisees5330 to eat5315 bread0740 on the sabbath4521 day, that2532 they0846 watched2258-3906 him0846.
14:2 And2532, behold2400, there was2258 a certain5100 man0444 before1715 him0846 which had the dropsy5203.
14:3 And2532 Jesus2424 answering0611 spake2036 unto4314 the lawyers3544 and2532 Pharisees5330, saying3004, Is it1487 lawful1832 to heal2323 on the sabbath day4521?
14:4 And1161 they held their peace2270. And2532 he took1949 {him}, and healed2390 him0846, and2532 let him go0630;
14:5 And2532 answered0611 them4314-0846, saying2036, Which5101 of you5216 shall have an ass3688 or2228 an ox1016 fallen1706 into1519 a pit5421, and2532 will0385 not3756 straightway2112 pull0385 him0846 out0385 on1722 the sabbath4521 day2250?
14:6 And2532 they could2480 not3756 answer0470 him0846 again0470 to4314 these things5023.
14:7 And1161 he put forth3004 a parable3850 to4314 those which were bidden2564, when he marked1907 how4459 they chose out1586 the chief rooms4411; saying3004 unto4314 them0846,
14:8 When3752 thou art bidden2564 of5259 any5100 {man} to1519 a wedding1062, sit2625 not3361 down2625 in1519 the highest room4411; lest3379 a more honourable man1784 than thou4675 be5600 bidden2564 of5259 him0846;
14:9 And2532 he that bade2564 thee4571 and2532 him0846 come2064 and say2046 to thee4671, Give1325 this man5129 place5117; and2532-5119 thou begin0756 with3326 shame0152 to take2722 the lowest2078 room5117.
14:10 But0235 when3752 thou art bidden2564, go4198 and sit down0377 in1519 the lowest2078 room5117; that2443 when3752 he that bade2564 thee4571 cometh2064, he may say2036 unto thee4671, Friend5384, go up4320 higher0511: then5119 shalt thou4671 have2071 worship1391 in the presence1799 of them that sit at meat4873 with thee4671.
14:11 For3754 whosoever3956 exalteth5312 himself1438 shall be abased5013; and2532 he that humbleth5013 himself1438 shall be exalted5312.
14:12 Then1161 said he3004 also2532 to him that bade2564 him0846, When3752 thou makest4160 a dinner0712 or2228 a supper1173, call5455 not3361 thy4675 friends5384, nor3366 thy4675 brethren0080, neither3366 thy4675 kinsmen4773, nor3366 {thy} rich4145 neighbours1069; lest3379 they0846 also2532 bid0479 thee4571 again0479, and2532 a recompence0468 be made1096 thee4671.
14:13 But0235 when3752 thou makest4160 a feast1403, call2564 the poor4434, the maimed0376, the lame5560, the blind5185:
14:14 And2532 thou shalt be2071 blessed3107; for3754 they cannot3756-2192 recompense0467 thee4671: for1063 thou4671 shalt be recompensed0467 at1722 the resurrection0386 of the just1342.
14:15 And1161 when one5100 of them that sat at meat with him4873 heard0191 these things5023, he said2036 unto him0846, Blessed3107 {is} he3739 that shall eat5315 bread0740 in1722 the kingdom0932 of God2316.
14:16 Then1161 said he2036 unto him0846, A certain5100 man0444 made4160 a great3173 supper1173, and2532 bade2564 many4183:
14:17 And2532 sent0649 his0846 servant1401 at supper1173 time5610 to say2036 to them that were bidden2564, Come2064; for3754 all things3956 are2076 now2235 ready2092.
14:18 And2532 they all3956 with0575 one3391 {consent} began0756 to make excuse3868. The first4413 said2036 unto him0846, I have bought0059 a piece of ground0068, and2532 I must2192 needs0318 go1831 and2532 see1492 it0846: I pray2065 thee4571 have2192 me3165 excused3868.
14:19 And2532 another2087 said2036, I have bought0059 five4002 yoke2201 of oxen1016, and2532 I go4198 to prove1381 them0846: I pray2065 thee4571 have2192 me3165 excused3868.
14:20 And2532 another2087 said2036, I have married1060 a wife1135, and2532 therefore1223-5124 I cannot3756-1410 come2064.
14:21 So2532 that1565 servant1401 came3854, and shewed0518 his0846 lord2962 these things5023. Then5119 the master of the house3617 being angry3710 said2036 to his0846 servant1401, Go out1831 quickly5030 into1519 the streets4113 and2532 lanes4505 of the city4172, and2532 bring in1521 hither5602 the poor4434, and2532 the maimed0376, and2532 the halt5560, and2532 the blind5185.
14:22 And2532 the servant1401 said2036, Lord2962, it is done1096 as5613 thou hast commanded2004, and2532 yet2089 there is2076 room5117.
14:23 And2532 the lord2962 said2036 unto4314 the servant1401, Go out1831 into1519 the highways3598 and2532 hedges5418, and2532 compel0315 {them} to come in1525, that2443 my3450 house3624 may be filled1072.
14:24 For1063 I say3004 unto you5213, That3754 none3762 of those1565 men0435 which3588 were bidden2564 shall taste1089 of my3450 supper1173.
14:25 And1161 there went4848 great4183 multitudes3793 with him0846: and2532 he turned4762, and said2036 unto4314 them0846,
14:26 If any1536 {man} come2064 to4314 me3165, and2532 hate3404 not3756 his1438 father3962, and2532 mother3384, and2532 wife1135, and2532 children5043, and2532 brethren0080, and2532 sisters0079, yea2089, and1161 his own1438 life5590 also2532, he cannot3756-1410 be1511 my3450 disciple3101.
14:27 And2532 whosoever3748 doth0941 not3756 bear0941 his0846 cross4716, and2532 come2064 after3694 me3450, cannot3756-1410 be1511 my3450 disciple3101.
14:28 For1063 which5101 of1537 you5216, intending2309 to build3618 a tower4444, sitteth2523 not3780 down2523 first4412, and counteth5585 the cost1160, whether1487 he have2192 {sufficient} to4314 finish0535 {it}?
14:29 Lest3363 haply3379, after he0846 hath laid5087 the foundation2310, and2532 is2480 not3361 able2480 to finish1615 {it}, all3956 that behold2334 {it} begin0756 to mock1702 him0846,
14:30 Saying3004, This3754-3778 man0444 began0756 to build3618, and2532 was2480 not3756 able2480 to finish1615.
14:31 Or2228 what5101 king0935, going4198 to make4820 war4171 against1519 another2087 king0935, sitteth2523 not3780 down2523 first4412, and consulteth1011 whether1487 he be2076 able1415 with1722 ten1176 thousand5505 to meet0528 him that cometh2064 against1909 him0846 with3326 twenty1501 thousand5505?
14:32 Or else1490, while the other0846 is5607 yet2089 a great way off4206, he sendeth0649 an ambassage4242, and desireth2065 conditions4314 of peace1515.
14:33 So3779 likewise3767, whosoever3956 he be of1537 you5216 that3739 forsaketh0657 not3756 all3956 that he hath5224-1438, he cannot3756-1410 be1511 my3450 disciple3101.
14:34 Salt0217 {is} good2570: but1161 if1437 the salt0217 have lost his savour3471, wherewith1722-5101 shall it be seasoned0741?
14:35 It is2076 neither3777 fit2111 for1519 the land1093, nor yet3777 for1519 the dunghill2874; {but} men cast0906 it0846 out1854. He that hath2192 ears3775 to hear0191, let him hear0191.
