一、字义：ὁ υἱὸς ὁ πρ.头胎的儿子（创25:25 等七十士译），太1:25 公认经文; 路2:7 （参创48:18 ）。τὰ πρ.长子（复数）＝所有的长子（τὰ πρ. 出22:18 民18:15 等）来11:28 （参出11:5 ）。

二、喻意：

A. 用于基督，是新人中的长子，新人将得荣耀，如同主已得荣耀，πρωτότοκος ἐν πολλοῖς ἀδελφοῖς在许多弟兄中作长子，罗8:29 。亦简单之πρωτότοκος长子，来1:6 ;参启2:8 异版。这一称呼适合颂赞形容耶稣，祂从神来建造圣徒团体，这称呼在一些经文中，-τοκος因素有否作用并不确定：(ὁ) πρ. (ἐκ) τῶν νεκρῶν从死里「首先复生」的，西1:18 启1:5 。πρωτότοκος πάσης κτίσεως是首生的（＝居首位的），在一切被造的以先，西1:15 〔诗89:27 〕。
