26:1 And there was a famine7458 in the land0776, beside0905 the first7223 famine7458 that was in the days3117 of Abraham0085. And Isaac3327 went3212 unto Abimelech0040 king4428 of the Philistines6430 unto Gerar1642.
26:2 And the LORD3068 appeared7200 unto him, and said0559, Go not down3381 into Egypt4714; dwell7931 in the land0776 which I shall tell0559 thee of:
26:3 Sojourn1481 in this land0776, and I will be with thee, and will bless1288 thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed2233, I will give5414 all these0411 countries0776, and I will perform6965 the oath7621 which I sware7650 unto Abraham0085 thy father0001;
26:4 And I will make7235 thy seed2233 to multiply7235 as the stars3556 of heaven8064, and will give5414 unto thy seed2233 all these0411 countries0776; and in thy seed2233 shall all the nations1471 of the earth0776 be blessed1288;
26:5 Because6118 that Abraham0085 obeyed8085 my voice6963, and kept8104 my charge4931, my commandments4687, my statutes2708, and my laws8451.
26:6 And Isaac3327 dwelt3427 in Gerar1642:
26:7 And the men0582 of the place4725 asked7592 {him} of his wife0802; and he said0559, She {is} my sister0269: for he feared3372 to say0559, {She is} my wife0802; lest, {said he}, the men0582 of the place4725 should kill2026 me for Rebekah7259; because she {was} fair2896 to look upon4758.
26:8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long0748 time3117, that Abimelech0040 king4428 of the Philistines6430 looked out8259 at1157 a window2474, and saw7200, and, behold, Isaac3327 {was} sporting6711 with Rebekah7259 his wife0802.
26:9 And Abimelech0040 called7121 Isaac3327, and said0559, Behold, of a surety0389 she {is} thy wife0802: and how saidst0559 thou, She {is} my sister0269? And Isaac3327 said0559 unto him, Because I said0559, Lest I die4191 for her.
26:10 And Abimelech0040 said0559, What {is} this thou hast done6213 unto us? one0259 of the people5971 might lightly4592 have lien7901 with thy wife0802, and thou shouldest have brought0935 guiltiness0817 upon us.
26:11 And Abimelech0040 charged6680 all {his} people5971, saying0559, He that toucheth5060 this man0376 or his wife0802 shall surely4191 be put to death4191.
26:12 Then Isaac3327 sowed2232 in that land0776, and received4672 in the same year8141 an hundredfold3967-8180: and the LORD3068 blessed1288 him.
26:13 And the man0376 waxed great1431, and went3212 forward1980, and grew1432 until he became1431 very3966 great1431:
26:14 For he had possession4735 of flocks6629, and possession4735 of herds1241, and great store7227 of servants5657: and the Philistines6430 envied7065 him.
26:15 For all the wells0875 which his father's0001 servants5650 had digged2658 in the days3117 of Abraham0085 his father0001, the Philistines6430 had stopped5640 them, and filled4390 them with earth6083.
26:16 And Abimelech0040 said0559 unto Isaac3327, Go3212 from us; for thou art much3966 mightier6105 than we.
26:17 And Isaac3327 departed3212 thence, and pitched his tent2583 in the valley5158 of Gerar1642, and dwelt3427 there8033.
26:18 And Isaac3327 digged2658 again7725 the wells0875 of water4325, which they had digged2658 in the days3117 of Abraham0085 his father0001; for the Philistines6430 had stopped5640 them after0310 the death4194 of Abraham0085: and he called7121 their names8034 after the names8034 by which0834 his father0001 had called7121 them.
26:19 And Isaac's3327 servants5650 digged2658 in the valley5158, and found4672 there a well0875 of springing2416 water4325.
26:20 And the herdmen7462 of Gerar1642 did strive7378 with Isaac's3327 herdmen7462, saying0559, The water4325 {is} ours: and he called7121 the name8034 of the well0875 Esek6230; because they strove6229 with him.
26:21 And they digged2658 another0312 well0875, and strove7378 for that also: and he called7121 the name of it8034 Sitnah7856.
26:22 And he removed6275 from thence, and digged2658 another0312 well0875; and for that they strove7378 not: and he called7121 the name of it8034 Rehoboth7344; and he said0559, For now6258 the LORD3068 hath made room7337 for us, and we shall be fruitful6509 in the land0776.
26:23 And he went up5927 from thence to Beersheba0884.
26:24 And the LORD3068 appeared7200 unto him the same night3915, and said0559, I {am} the God0430 of Abraham0085 thy father0001: fear3372 not, for I {am} with0854 thee, and will bless1288 thee, and multiply7235 thy seed2233 for my servant5650 Abraham's0085 sake.
26:25 And he builded1129 an altar4196 there, and called7121 upon the name8034 of the LORD3068, and pitched5186 his tent0168 there: and there Isaac's3327 servants5650 digged3738 a well0875.
26:26 Then Abimelech0040 went1980 to him from Gerar1642, and Ahuzzath0276 one of his friends4828, and Phichol6369 the chief captain8269 of his army6635.
26:27 And Isaac3327 said0559 unto them, Wherefore4069 come0935 ye to me, seeing ye hate8130 me, and have sent me away7971 from you?
26:28 And they said0559, We saw7200 certainly7200 that the LORD3068 was with thee: and we said0559, Let there be now an oath0423 betwixt0996 us, {even} betwixt0996 us and thee, and let us make3772 a covenant1285 with thee;
26:29 That thou wilt do6213 us no hurt7451, as we have not touched5060 thee, and as we have done6213 unto thee nothing but7535 good2896, and have sent thee away7971 in peace7965: thou {art} now6258 the blessed1288 of the LORD3068.
26:30 And he made6213 them a feast4960, and they did eat0398 and drink8354.
26:31 And they rose up betimes7925 in the morning1242, and sware7650 one0376 to another0251: and Isaac3327 sent them away7971, and they departed3212 from him in peace7965.
26:32 And it came to pass the same day3117, that Isaac's3327 servants5650 came0935, and told5046 him concerning0182 the well0875 which they had digged2658, and said0559 unto him, We have found4672 water4325.
26:33 And he called7121 it Shebah7656: therefore the name8034 of the city5892 {is} Beersheba0884 unto this day3117.
26:34 And Esau6215 was forty0705 years8141 old1121 when he took3947 to wife0802 Judith3067 the daughter1323 of Beeri0882 the Hittite2850, and Bashemath1315 the daughter1323 of Elon0356 the Hittite2850:
26:35 Which were a grief4786 of mind7307 unto Isaac3327 and to Rebekah7259.
