一、指很「 小的孩子」。 A. 字义：通常作实名词－οἱ ν. 婴孩（带θηλάζοντες吃奶的） 太21:16 （ 诗8:2 ）。单数－ 林前13:11 （前四处）；τὰ τοῦ ν. 孩子的作风， 林前13:11 节末一处。 B. 喻意： 来5:13 转至喻意，该处之νήπιος指被喂以基本道理之奶的人，与τέλειος成人相对，成人能接受主要道理之干粮（另见 林前3:1,2 ）。依此用法，ν.指从婴孩立场看属灵事物的人，与下列状况相对： 1. 更长进的基督徒境界，这是ν.可期望达到的。（ 诗119:130 ）ἵνα μηκέτι ὦμεν νήπιοι使我们不再作 小孩子， 弗4:14 。犹太人是διδάσκαλος νηπίων 小孩子的先生， 罗2:20 。νηπίος ἐν Χριστῷ在基督里为 婴孩的， 林前3:1 。 2. 可与σοφός聪明人，συνετός通达人相对，如此νήπιοι指 如婴孩的， 纯真的人，并未因学习而变坏，是神所喜悦的， 太11:25 路10:21 。
