48:1 And it came to pass after0310 these things1697, that {one} told0559 Joseph3130, Behold, thy father0001 {is} sick2470: and he took3947 with him his two8147 sons1121, Manasseh4519 and Ephraim0669.
48:2 And {one} told5046 Jacob3290, and said0559, Behold, thy son1121 Joseph3130 cometh0935 unto thee: and Israel3478 strengthened2388 himself, and sat3427 upon the bed4296.
48:3 And Jacob3290 said0559 unto Joseph3130, God0410 Almighty7706 appeared7200 unto me at Luz3870 in the land0776 of Canaan3667, and blessed1288 me,
48:4 And said0559 unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful6509, and multiply7235 thee, and I will make5414 of thee a multitude6951 of people5971; and will give5414 this land0776 to thy seed2233 after thee0310 {for} an everlasting5769 possession0272.
48:5 And now thy two8147 sons1121, Ephraim0669 and Manasseh4519, which were born3205 unto thee in the land0776 of Egypt4714 before5704 I came0935 unto thee into Egypt4714, {are} mine; as Reuben7205 and Simeon8095, they shall be mine.
48:6 And thy issue4138, which thou begettest3205 after0310 them, shall be thine, {and} shall be called7121 after5921 the name8034 of their brethren0251 in their inheritance5159.
48:7 And as for me, when I came0935 from Padan6307, Rachel7354 died4191 by me in the land0776 of Canaan3667 in the way1870, when5750 yet {there was} but a little3530 way0776 to come0935 unto Ephrath0672: and I buried her6912 there in the way1870 of Ephrath0672; the same {is} Bethlehem1035.
48:8 And Israel3478 beheld7200 Joseph's3130 sons1121, and said0559, Who {are} these?
48:9 And Joseph3130 said0559 unto his father0001, They {are} my sons1121, whom God0430 hath given5414 me in this {place}. And he said0559, Bring them3947, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless1288 them.
48:10 Now the eyes5869 of Israel3478 were dim3513 for age2207, {so that} he could3201 not see7200. And he brought them near5066 unto him; and he kissed5401 them, and embraced2263 them.
48:11 And Israel3478 said0559 unto Joseph3130, I had not thought6419 to see7200 thy face6440: and, lo, God0430 hath shewed7200 me also thy seed2233.
48:12 And Joseph3130 brought them out3318 from between5973 his knees1290, and he bowed7812 himself with his face0639 to the earth0776.
48:13 And Joseph3130 took3947 them both8147, Ephraim0669 in his right hand3225 toward Israel's3478 left hand8040, and Manasseh4519 in his left hand8040 toward Israel's3478 right hand3225, and brought {them} near5066 unto him.
48:14 And Israel3478 stretched out7971 his right hand3225, and laid7896 {it} upon Ephraim's0669 head7218, who {was} the younger6810, and his left hand8040 upon Manasseh's4519 head7218, guiding7919 his hands3027 wittingly7919; for Manasseh4519 {was} the firstborn1060.
48:15 And he blessed1288 Joseph3130, and said0559, God0430, before6440 whom my fathers0001 Abraham0085 and Isaac3327 did walk1980, the God0430 which fed7462 me all my life long5750 unto this day3117,
48:16 The Angel4397 which redeemed1350 me from all evil7451, bless1288 the lads5288; and let my name8034 be named7121 on them, and the name8034 of my fathers0001 Abraham0085 and Isaac3327; and let them grow1711 into a multitude7230 in the midst7130 of the earth0776.
48:17 And when Joseph3130 saw7200 that his father0001 laid7896 his right3225 hand3027 upon the head7218 of Ephraim0669, it displeased3415-5869 him: and he held up8551 his father's0001 hand3027, to remove5493 it from Ephraim's0669 head7218 unto Manasseh's4519 head7218.
48:18 And Joseph3130 said0559 unto his father0001, Not so, my father0001: for this {is} the firstborn1060; put7760 thy right hand3225 upon his head7218.
48:19 And his father0001 refused3985, and said0559, I know3045 {it}, my son1121, I know3045 {it}: he also shall become a people5971, and he also shall be great1431: but truly0199 his younger6996 brother0251 shall be greater1431 than he, and his seed2233 shall become a multitude4393 of nations1471.
48:20 And he blessed1288 them that day3117, saying0559, In thee shall Israel3478 bless1288, saying0559, God0430 make7760 thee as Ephraim0669 and as Manasseh4519: and he set7760 Ephraim0669 before6440 Manasseh4519.
48:21 And Israel3478 said0559 unto Joseph3130, Behold, I die4191: but God0430 shall be with you, and bring you again7725 unto the land0776 of your fathers0001.
48:22 Moreover I have given5414 to thee one0259 portion7926 above thy brethren0251, which I took3947 out of the hand3027 of the Amorite0567 with my sword2719 and with my bow7198.
