23:1 And Sarah8283 was an hundred3967-8141 and seven7651-8141 and twenty6242 years8141 old2416: {these were} the years8141 of the life2416 of Sarah8283.
23:2 And Sarah8283 died4191 in Kirjatharba7153; the same {is} Hebron2275 in the land0776 of Canaan3667: and Abraham0085 came0935 to mourn5594 for Sarah8283, and to weep1058 for her.
23:3 And Abraham0085 stood up6965 from before6440 his dead4191, and spake1696 unto the sons1121 of Heth2845, saying0559,
23:4 I {am} a stranger1616 and a sojourner8453 with you: give5414 me a possession0272 of a buryingplace6913 with you, that I may bury6912 my dead4191 out of my sight6440.
23:5 And the children1121 of Heth2845 answered6030 Abraham0085, saying0559 unto him,
23:6 Hear us8085, my lord0113: thou {art} a mighty0430 prince5387 among us8432: in the choice4005 of our sepulchres6913 bury6912 thy dead4191; none3808-0376 of us shall withhold3607 from thee his sepulchre6913, but that thou mayest bury6912 thy dead4191.
23:7 And Abraham0085 stood up6965, and bowed7812 himself to the people5971 of the land0776, {even} to the children1121 of Heth2845.
23:8 And he communed1696 with them, saying0559, If it be3426 your mind5315 that I should bury6912 my dead4191 out of my sight6440; hear8085 me, and intreat6293 for me to Ephron6085 the son1121 of Zohar6714,
23:9 That he may give5414 me the cave4631 of Machpelah4375, which he hath, which {is} in the end7097 of his field7704; for as much4392 money3701 as it is worth4392 he shall give it5414 me for a possession0272 of a buryingplace6913 amongst you8432.
23:10 And Ephron6085 dwelt3427 among8432 the children1121 of Heth2845: and Ephron6085 the Hittite2850 answered6030 Abraham0085 in the audience0241 of the children1121 of Heth2845, {even} of all that went in0935 at the gate8179 of his city5892, saying0559,
23:11 Nay3808, my lord0113, hear me8085: the field7704 give I5414 thee, and the cave4631 that {is} therein, I give it5414 thee; in the presence5869 of the sons1121 of my people5971 give5414 I it thee: bury6912 thy dead4191.
23:12 And Abraham0085 bowed down7812 himself before6440 the people5971 of the land0776.
23:13 And he spake1696 unto Ephron6085 in the audience0241 of the people5971 of the land0776, saying0559, But if thou {wilt give it}, I pray thee3863, hear8085 me: I will give5414 thee money3701 for the field7704; take3947 {it} of me, and I will bury6912 my dead4191 there.
23:14 And Ephron6085 answered6030 Abraham0085, saying0559 unto him,
23:15 My lord0113, hearken8085 unto me: the land0776 {is worth} four0702 hundred3967 shekels8255 of silver3701; what {is} that betwixt0996 me and thee? bury6912 therefore thy dead4191.
23:16 And Abraham0085 hearkened8085 unto Ephron6085; and Abraham0085 weighed8254 to Ephron6085 the silver3701, which he had named1696 in the audience0241 of the sons1121 of Heth2845, four0702 hundred3967 shekels8255 of silver3701, current5674 {money} with the merchant5503.
23:17 And the field7704 of Ephron6085, which {was} in Machpelah4375, which {was} before6440 Mamre4471, the field7704, and the cave4631 which {was} therein, and all the trees6086 that {were} in the field7704, that {were} in all the borders1366 round about5439, were made sure6965
23:18 Unto Abraham0085 for a possession4736 in the presence5869 of the children1121 of Heth2845, before all that went in0935 at the gate8179 of his city5892.
23:19 And after0310 this3651, Abraham0085 buried6912 Sarah8283 his wife0802 in the cave4631 of the field7704 of Machpelah4375 before6440 Mamre4471: the same {is} Hebron2275 in the land0776 of Canaan3667.
23:20 And the field7704, and the cave4631 that {is} therein, were made sure6965 unto Abraham0085 for a possession0272 of a buryingplace6913 by the sons1121 of Heth2845.
