32:1 Now the children1121 of Reuben7205 and the children1121 of Gad1410 had a very3966 great6099 multitude7227 of cattle4735: and when they saw7200 the land0776 of Jazer3270, and the land0776 of Gilead1568, that, behold, the place4725 {was} a place4725 for cattle4735;
32:2 The children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 came0935 and spake0559 unto Moses4872, and to Eleazar0499 the priest3548, and unto the princes5387 of the congregation5712, saying0559,
32:3 Ataroth5852, and Dibon1769, and Jazer3270, and Nimrah5247, and Heshbon2809, and Elealeh0500, and Shebam7643, and Nebo5015, and Beon1194,
32:4 {Even} the country0776 which the LORD3068 smote5221 before6440 the congregation5712 of Israel3478, {is} a land0776 for cattle4735, and thy servants5650 have cattle4735:
32:5 Wherefore, said0559 they, if we have found4672 grace2580 in thy sight5869, let this land0776 be given5414 unto thy servants5650 for a possession0272, {and} bring us not over5674 Jordan3383.
32:6 And Moses4872 said0559 unto the children1121 of Gad1410 and to the children1121 of Reuben7205, Shall your brethren0251 go0935 to war4421, and shall ye sit3427 here?
32:7 And wherefore discourage ye5106-5106 the heart3820 of the children1121 of Israel3478 from going over5674 into the land0776 which the LORD3068 hath given5414 them?
32:8 Thus did6213 your fathers0001, when I sent7971 them from Kadeshbarnea6947 to see7200 the land0776.
32:9 For when they went up5927 unto the valley5158 of Eshcol0812, and saw7200 the land0776, they discouraged5106 the heart3820 of the children1121 of Israel3478, that they should not go0935 into the land0776 which the LORD3068 had given5414 them.
32:10 And the LORD'S3068 anger0639 was kindled2734 the same time3117, and he sware7650, saying0559,
32:11 Surely0518 none of the men0582 that came up5927 out of Egypt4714, from twenty6242 years8141 old1121 and upward4605, shall see7200 the land0127 which I sware7650 unto Abraham0085, unto Isaac3327, and unto Jacob3290; because they have not wholly4390 followed0310 me:
32:12 Save Caleb3612 the son1121 of Jephunneh3312 the Kenezite7074, and Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun5126: for they have wholly4390 followed0310 the LORD3068.
32:13 And the LORD'S3068 anger0639 was kindled2734 against Israel3478, and he made them wander5128 in the wilderness4057 forty0705 years8141, until all the generation1755, that had done6213 evil7451 in the sight5869 of the LORD3068, was consumed8552.
32:14 And, behold, ye are risen up6965 in your fathers'0001 stead, an increase8635 of sinful2400 men0582, to augment5595 yet the fierce2740 anger0639 of the LORD3068 toward Israel3478.
32:15 For if ye turn away7725 from after0310 him, he will yet again3254 leave3240 them in the wilderness4057; and ye shall destroy7843 all this people5971.
32:16 And they came near5066 unto him, and said0559, We will build1129 sheepfolds1448-6629 here for our cattle4735, and cities5892 for our little ones2945:
32:17 But we ourselves0587 will go ready2363 armed2502 before6440 the children1121 of Israel3478, until we have brought0935 them unto their place4725: and our little ones2945 shall dwell3427 in the fenced4013 cities5892 because6440 of the inhabitants3427 of the land0776.
32:18 We will not return7725 unto our houses1004, until the children1121 of Israel3478 have inherited5157 every man0376 his inheritance5159.
32:19 For we will not inherit5157 with them on yonder side5676 Jordan3383, or forward1973; because our inheritance5159 is fallen0935 to us on this side5676 Jordan3383 eastward4217.
32:20 And Moses4872 said0559 unto them, If ye will do6213 this thing1697, if ye will go armed2502 before6440 the LORD3068 to war4421,
32:21 And will go5674 all of you armed2502 over5674 Jordan3383 before6440 the LORD3068, until he hath driven out3423 his enemies0341 from before6440 him,
32:22 And the land0776 be subdued3533 before6440 the LORD3068: then afterward0310 ye shall return7725, and be guiltless5355 before the LORD3068, and before Israel3478; and this land0776 shall be your possession0272 before6440 the LORD3068.
32:23 But if ye will not do so6213, behold, ye have sinned2398 against the LORD3068: and be sure3045 your sin2403 will find you out4672.
32:24 Build1129 you cities5892 for your little ones2945, and folds1448 for your sheep6792; and do6213 that which hath proceeded3318 out of your mouth6310.
32:25 And the children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 spake0559 unto Moses4872, saying0559, Thy servants5650 will do6213 as my lord0113 commandeth6680.
32:26 Our little ones2945, our wives0802, our flocks4735, and all our cattle0929, shall be there in the cities5892 of Gilead1568:
32:27 But thy servants5650 will pass over5674, every man armed2502 for war6635, before6440 the LORD3068 to battle4421, as my lord0113 saith1696.
32:28 So concerning them Moses4872 commanded6680 Eleazar0499 the priest3548, and Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun5126, and the chief7218 fathers0001 of the tribes4294 of the children1121 of Israel3478:
32:29 And Moses4872 said0559 unto them, If the children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 will pass with you over5674 Jordan3383, every man armed2502 to battle4421, before6440 the LORD3068, and the land0776 shall be subdued3533 before6440 you; then ye shall give5414 them the land0776 of Gilead1568 for a possession0272:
32:30 But if they will not pass over5674 with you armed2502, they shall have possessions0270 among8432 you in the land0776 of Canaan3667.
32:31 And the children1121 of Gad1410 and the children1121 of Reuben7205 answered6030, saying0559, As the LORD3068 hath said1696 unto thy servants5650, so will we do6213.
32:32 We will5168 pass over5674 armed2502 before6440 the LORD3068 into the land0776 of Canaan3667, that the possession0272 of our inheritance5159 on this side5676 Jordan3383 {may be} ours.
32:33 And Moses4872 gave5414 unto them, {even} to the children1121 of Gad1410, and to the children1121 of Reuben7205, and unto half2677 the tribe7626 of Manasseh4519 the son1121 of Joseph3130, the kingdom4467 of Sihon5511 king4428 of the Amorites0567, and the kingdom4467 of Og5747 king4428 of Bashan1316, the land0776, with the cities5892 thereof in the coasts1367, {even} the cities5892 of the country0776 round about5439.
32:34 And the children1121 of Gad1410 built1129 Dibon1769, and Ataroth5852, and Aroer6177,
32:35 And Atroth, Shophan5855, and Jaazer3270, and Jogbehah3011,
32:36 And Bethnimrah1039, and Bethharan1028, fenced4013 cities5892: and folds1448 for sheep6629.
32:37 And the children1121 of Reuben7205 built1129 Heshbon2809, and Elealeh0500, and Kirjathaim7156,
32:38 And Nebo5015, and Baalmeon1186, (their names8034 being changed4142,) and Shibmah7643: and gave7121 other names8034-8034 unto the cities5892 which they builded1129.
32:39 And the children1121 of Machir4353 the son1121 of Manasseh4519 went3212 to Gilead1568, and took3920 it, and dispossessed3423 the Amorite0567 which {was} in it.
32:40 And Moses4872 gave5414 Gilead1568 unto Machir4353 the son1121 of Manasseh4519; and he dwelt3427 therein.
32:41 And Jair2971 the son1121 of Manasseh4519 went1980 and took3920 the small towns2333 thereof, and called7121 them Havothjair2334.
32:42 And Nobah5025 went1980 and took3920 Kenath7079, and the villages1323 thereof, and called7121 it Nobah5025, after his own name8034.
