5:1 Then came0935 all the tribes7626 of Israel3478 to David1732 unto Hebron2275, and spake0559, saying0559, Behold, we {are} thy bone6106 and thy flesh1320.
5:2 Also in time past0865-8032, when Saul7586 was king4428 over us, thou wast he that leddest out3318 and broughtest in0935 Israel3478: and the LORD3068 said0559 to thee, Thou shalt feed7462 my people5971 Israel3478, and thou shalt be a captain5057 over Israel3478.
5:3 So all the elders2205 of Israel3478 came0935 to the king4428 to Hebron2275; and king4428 David1732 made3772 a league1285 with them in Hebron2275 before6440 the LORD3068: and they anointed4886 David1732 king4428 over Israel3478.
5:4 David1732 {was} thirty7970 years8141 old1121 when he began to reign4427, {and} he reigned4427 forty0705 years8141.
5:5 In Hebron2275 he reigned4427 over Judah3063 seven7651 years8141 and six8337 months2320: and in Jerusalem3389 he reigned4427 thirty7970 and three7969 years8141 over all Israel3478 and Judah3063.
5:6 And the king4428 and his men0582 went3212 to Jerusalem3389 unto the Jebusites2983, the inhabitants3427 of the land0776: which spake0559 unto David1732, saying0559, Except thou take away5493 the blind5787 and the lame6455, thou shalt not come in0935 hither: thinking0559, David1732 cannot come in0935 hither.
5:7 Nevertheless David1732 took3920 the strong hold4686 of Zion6726: the same {is} the city5892 of David1732.
5:8 And David1732 said0559 on that day3117, Whosoever getteth up5060 to the gutter6794, and smiteth5221 the Jebusites2983, and the lame6455 and the blind5787, {that are} hated8130 of David's1732 soul5315, {he shall be chief and captain}. Wherefore they said0559, The blind5787 and the lame6455 shall not come0935 into the house1004.

5:16 And Elishama0476, and Eliada0450, and Eliphalet0467.
5:17 But when the Philistines6430 heard8085 that they had anointed4886 David1732 king4428 over Israel3478, all the Philistines6430 came up5927 to seek1245 David1732; and David1732 heard8085 {of it}, and went down3381 to the hold4686.
5:18 The Philistines6430 also came0935 and spread5203 themselves in the valley6010 of Rephaim7497.
5:19 And David1732 enquired7592 of the LORD3068, saying0559, Shall I go up5927 to the Philistines6430? wilt thou deliver5414 them into mine hand3027? And the LORD3068 said0559 unto David1732, Go up5927: for I will doubtless5414 deliver5414 the Philistines6430 into thine hand3027.
5:20 And David1732 came0935 to Baalperazim1188, and David1732 smote5221 them there, and said0559, The LORD3068 hath broken forth6555 upon mine enemies0341 before6440 me, as the breach6556 of waters4325. Therefore he called7121 the name8034 of that place4725 Baalperazim1188.
5:21 And there they left5800 their images6091, and David1732 and his men0582 burned5375 them.
5:22 And the Philistines6430 came up5927 yet again3254, and spread5203 themselves in the valley6010 of Rephaim7497.
5:23 And when David1732 enquired7592 of the LORD3068, he said0559, Thou shalt not go up5927; {but} fetch a compass5437 behind0310 them, and come0935 upon them over against4136 the mulberry trees1057.
5:24 And let it be, when thou hearest8085 the sound6963 of a going6807 in the tops7218 of the mulberry trees1057, that then thou shalt bestir2782 thyself: for then shall the LORD3068 go out3318 before6440 thee, to smite5221 the host4264 of the Philistines6430.
5:25 And David1732 did so6213, as the LORD3068 had commanded6680 him; and smote5221 the Philistines6430 from Geba1387 until thou come0935 to Gazer1507.
