5:1 And the Philistines6430 took3947 the ark0727 of God0430, and brought0935 it from Ebenezer0072 unto Ashdod0795.
5:2 When the Philistines6430 took3947 the ark0727 of God0430, they brought0935 it into the house1004 of Dagon1712, and set3322 it by0681 Dagon1712.
5:3 And when they of Ashdod0796 arose early7925 on the morrow4283, behold, Dagon1712 {was} fallen5307 upon his face6440 to the earth0776 before6440 the ark0727 of the LORD3068. And they took3947 Dagon1712, and set7725 him in his place4725 again7725.
5:4 And when they arose early7925 on the morrow4283 morning1242, behold, Dagon1712 {was} fallen5307 upon his face6440 to the ground0776 before6440 the ark0727 of the LORD3068; and the head7218 of Dagon1712 and both8147 the palms3709 of his hands3027 {were} cut off3772 upon the threshold4670; only {the stump of} Dagon1712 was left7604 to him.
5:5 Therefore neither the priests3548 of Dagon1712, nor any that come0935 into Dagon's1712 house1004, tread1869 on the threshold4670 of Dagon1712 in Ashdod0795 unto this day3117.
5:6 But the hand3027 of the LORD3068 was heavy3513 upon them of Ashdod0796, and he destroyed8074 them, and smote5221 them with emerods2914-6076, {even} Ashdod0795 and the coasts1366 thereof.
5:7 And when the men0582 of Ashdod0795 saw7200 that {it was} so, they said0559, The ark0727 of the God0430 of Israel3478 shall not abide3427 with us: for his hand3027 is sore7185 upon us, and upon Dagon1712 our god0430.
5:8 They sent7971 therefore and gathered0622 all the lords5633 of the Philistines6430 unto them, and said0559, What shall we do6213 with the ark0727 of the God0430 of Israel3478? And they answered0559, Let the ark0727 of the God0430 of Israel3478 be carried about5437 unto Gath1661. And they carried5437 the ark0727 of the God0430 of Israel3478 about5437 {thither}.
5:9 And it was {so}, that, after0310 they had carried it about5437, the hand3027 of the LORD3068 was against the city5892 with a very3966 great1419 destruction4103: and he smote5221 the men0582 of the city5892, both small6996 and great1419, and they had emerods2914-6076 in their secret parts8368.
5:10 Therefore they sent7971 the ark0727 of God0430 to Ekron6138. And it came to pass, as the ark0727 of God0430 came0935 to Ekron6138, that the Ekronites6139 cried out2199, saying0559, They have brought about5437 the ark0727 of the God0430 of Israel3478 to us, to slay4191 us and our people5971.
5:11 So they sent7971 and gathered together0622 all the lords5633 of the Philistines6430, and said0559, Send away7971 the ark0727 of the God0430 of Israel3478, and let it go again7725 to his own place4725, that it slay4191 us not, and our people5971: for there was a deadly4194 destruction4103 throughout all the city5892; the hand3027 of God0430 was very3966 heavy3513 there.
5:12 And the men0582 that died4191 not were smitten5221 with the emerods2914-6076: and the cry7775 of the city5892 went up5927 to heaven8064.
