3:1 Now these {are} the nations1471 which the LORD3068 left3240, to prove5254 Israel3478 by them, {even} as many {of Israel} as had not known3045 all the wars4421 of Canaan3667;
3:2 Only that7535 the generations1755 of the children1121 of Israel3478 might know3045, to teach3925 them war4421, at the least such as before6440 knew3045 nothing thereof;
3:3 {Namely}, five2568 lords5633 of the Philistines6430, and all the Canaanites3669, and the Sidonians6722, and the Hivites2340 that dwelt3427 in mount2022 Lebanon3844, from mount2022 Baalhermon1179 unto the entering in0935 of Hamath2574.
3:4 And they were to prove5254 Israel3478 by them, to know3045 whether they would hearken8085 unto the commandments4687 of the LORD3068, which he commanded6680 their fathers0001 by the hand3027 of Moses4872.
